    Before we dive in today I wanted to see if anyone would like to submit an audio clip with a podcasting question that I can answer on an upcoming episode of Podcasting Business School.

    ➡️ 3. In order for me to be able to use your question on the show please make it as specific as possible.

    Don't say this:

    ❌ How do I grow my podcast?

    Say something specific like this instead:

    ✅ How do I grow my podcast without using social media?

    ➡️ 4. Please submit your question by the end of the day today (Thursday). 

    I'm excited to create some content that helps you solve specific podcasting problems that you are dealing with!

     

    This week we are going to talk about an important decision that most successful podcasters end up having to consider: Is it time to rebrand?

    I'd like to start off by saying that most podcasters (myself included) that see success over the long term will have to rebrand their show at some point.

    I run into a LOT of podcasters that seem to think that rebranding their show is kind of like admitting defeat or failing....and that is the farthest thing from the truth!

    I rebranded my show from Casting The Pod... to Podcasting Business School at episode 101 and it was the BEST decision I could've ever made!

    I've done the calculations Pod Pals:

    🤓 98.37% of podcasters have NO IDEA what we are doing when we launch our first show....

    🤓 and 99.99% of us really suck at picking a strategic name for our show!

     

    Now that I've got you considering the idea of a rebrand let's dive into four signs that it's time to pull the trigger:

    🎯 1) Your audience growth has either stalled out or never really happened in the first place.

    This usually means that you aren't leveraging podcast SEO and a strategic rebrand makes a ton of sense!

    One of my clients went from less than 500 downloads in her first year to over 100,000 downloads in year two just by rebranding her podcast name and leveraging podcast SEO.

     

    🎯 2) You have really low audience engagement.

    If your audience is out of touch, that can be a sign that your content topics aren't resonating with them. 

    A rebrand can freshen things up and allow you to dial into the pain points that your audience actually wants you to help them solve.

     

    🎯 3) You aren't getting clients from your podcast content.

    If your listeners aren't becoming clients, it can be because you are attracting the WRONG type of listener to your podcast.

    We can use my show as an example for this one.

    ➡️ With my Casting The Pod branding I attracted all sorts of podcasters and I wasn't getting ANY clients.

    ➡️ With my rebrand to Podcasting Business School I started attracting many more podcasters that wanted to leverage their show to build their online business and sell things/get clients.

    By rebranding (and leveraging podcast SEO) you can get ideal fit potential clients in front of your content every single week!

     

    🎯 4) Your passion for your podcast content is fading.

    If YOU aren't excited about the content that you are creating it's not going to be good content!

    With a rebrand you can make a small pivot and find the cross section between the content you are excited to create and the content your audience is excited to consume!

     

    OK....so now that you're thinking about rebranding your show... Let me run you through how I would suggest that you do it.

    ✔️ 1. Listen to THIS EPISODE of my podcast so that you can apply strategic podcast SEO to your rebrand game plan.

    Please do not rebrand your show with another ineffective name!!!!

    ✔️ 2. Once you are ready with a strategic podcast name/updated art we will use a 3 week ramp up.

    👉 Week 1: At the end of your episode I want you to just mention that you've got a rebrand coming.

    👉 Week 2: This is the final episode with the OLD branding. Usually I have my clients do a solo episode where they unpack the rebrand and the new direction.

    Let your audience know that the next episode will have the new branding/logo, etc.

    *Pro Tip: I have my clients wait 72 hours after this episode drops and then we change the name/art in their podcast host.

    👉 Week 3: This is the first episode with the new branding...make a big deal out of it like a brand new podcast launch!
