Hey Pod Pals!
This newsletter was lovingly curated (without the use of any AI) in real time on Thursday morning at 8:57am CST.
I'm a little slow moving this morning due to the fact that my entire face seems to be leaking from allergy season hitting here in Missouri.
I've already hit the Neti-pot TWICE today....LOL.
Now I'm all hopped up on allergy meds and cold brew coffee.....time to write!
Real quick before we dive into this week's topic.... ⤵️
I'm focused on helping podcasters and online business owners SOLVE these four specific problems:
1. How to optimize your podcast launch.
2. How to grow your podcast past 1,000 downloads per episode.
3. How to convert more podcast listeners into paying clients.
4. How to simplify your online business so it feels easy, lucrative, and fun.
If you need some help with ANY of these four problems check out this four minute video on my homepage to explore how we can work together.

This week we are going to talk about simplifying your social media strategy and what is currently working REALLY well for me.
This newsletter should help you make some progress with problems two through four that I mentioned above (growth, client conversion, and business simplification).
Let's kick things off with a few tough questions.
When it comes to your current social media game plan:
1. Are you getting any organic engagement?
2. Are you seeing day to day growth in followers?
3. Are these followers signing up for your email list and subscribing to your podcast?
4. Are you getting new clients from social media?
Most content creators will have a big fat NO across the board with these questions.....and that is why so many of us are burning out and quitting.
So today I want to challenge you to start thinking differently about your social media strategy.......because what do you have to lose?
In the coming weeks you are going to hear me talking a LOT about what I'm now referring to as my Minimum Effective Dose Business Strategy (watch this 4 min video to learn more about it!).
In a social media world that is telling content creators that we MUST be "everywhere".....I'm going to challenge you to do the opposite.
My strategy is to be present on the absolute minimum amount of platforms necessary... (minimum effective dose).
For most people this will be 1-2 platforms tops......I know....this is getting scary!
Here is my Minimum Effective Dose Social Media Strategy:
🏆 1. Focus on ONE primary platform.
Your focus platform is defined as the platform where you are seeing growth, getting new podcast listeners, getting new newsletter subscribers, and getting clients.
🏆 2. Post on this ONE platform every day.
🏆 3. Engage with other posts on this platform for at least 10 minutes per day.
I feel like another slept on nugget of truth about social media is the fact that if you don't like creating content on a platform you will most likely not create great content for that platform (and you won't grow!).
Find the ONE platform that you LOVE creating content for....and the growth will most likely follow!
📌 At this point I'd like to state that if you decide to follow this strategy you WILL feel the FOMO of not being on all the platforms.
I look at it like this...
I DON'T have FOMO about:
-Not being on TikTok or Youtube.
-Having a fancy website.
-Not having any email funnels.
I DO have FOMO about:
-Not being able to take care of my own health.
-Not being able to be a present father and husband.
-Not being able to enjoy the parts of my life that exist OUTSIDE of entrepreneurship.
We have to choose our FOMO wisely!
So let's talk about my focus platform: Threads
*DISCLAIMER: You don't need to be on Threads.
If you have found another focus platform that fits our criteria from above that is where you need to be.
If you are still searching for a focus social media platform I do think there is a great opportunity with Threads.
Here are some positives about this platform:
✔️ It's new-ish and still growing...but not oversaturated.
✔️ It is a text focused platform (no video or images needed!)
✔️ If you write a newsletter it is easy to create a content flywheel and turn your newsletter into Threads posts.
✔️ Threads is owned by Meta....and Meta likes to WIN. This platform isn't going to fade away (like Clubhouse).
Here is a list of action steps if you want to give the Threads platform a try:
✔️ Optimize your bio. Tell us who you help and what problems you solve.
✔️ Use keywords in your bio and in your posts.
✔️ Pay attention to spacing out your text when you post. Don't post a big word blob paragraph!
✔️ Add value with every post. I don't post anything about TV shows I'm watching etc......I just stick to adding value.
✔️ Learn about using good hooks! Like all social media...the hook is what stops the scroll!
✔️ Spend at least 10 minutes per day engaging on other people's posts. Don't just leave a thumbs up emoji!!! Add actually value.
Pro Tip: I have a swipe file of common replies I use that are super high value. I can just copy/paste and customize as needed.
✔️ Save ALL of your content in a Google Sheet, etc for reuse.
Here are a few things to avoid doing on Threads:
❌ Don't use links...especially on other people's posts.
This platform HATES it when you link out and send people off the platform. Your views will tank.
❌ Don't use images/video.
You can't repurpose your IG Reels on Threads......your views will tank. This is a TEXT focused platform.
❌ Don't post too much promotional content.
We want to raise awareness for our new podcast episodes, offers, newsletter, etc.......but that should be about 10% or less of your total content on this platform.
Here are a few example posts that you can use as a template if you decide to try out Threads:
➡️ Here is a post where I add a bunch of value FIRST and then I promote my latest episode. Note that I DO use a link in this one (to the episode)...but that is buried about 4 posts down within the Thread.
➡️ Here is a post where I promoted today's newsletter and had several new people sign up! (WELCOME!)
➡️ This is a SuperThread post. These are long form (multi connected posts) where the goal is to add a ton of value and build expert positioning.
Here is a quick action step checklist to wrap things up:
1. Evaluate your current social media strategy status. Is it easy, lucrative, and fun or is it hard, annoying, lame, and frustrating?
2. Give yourself permission to put a few platforms "on hold" for a month so you can explore going all-in on one or two focus platform candidates.
3. Start with the platform that you actually love creating content on....and make sure you spend 10 minutes per day commenting on and adding VALUE on other people's posts.
