business tips podcast content ideas podcast monetization Jan 15, 2026

    Hey Pod Pals!

This newsletter was lovingly curated (without the use of any AI) in real time on Thursday morning at 8:58am CST.

I am feeling GREAT today Pod Pals!

I've noticed that any time I make my business/life simpler I get a huge boost of creative energy.

This week I made the decision to only focus on ONE single social media platform for 90 days: Threads.

All the other apps have been deleted from my phone!

I'm growing so fast on that platform and I want to see what's possible if I give it 100% of my attention for 90 days.....I will report in with results!

Real quick before we dive into this week's topic.... ⤵️

I love helping my clients simplify their podcast content strategy so they can leverage their content to grow their audience and get clients.

If you feel like you are ready for some help with your podcast listener to client conversion strategy hop on my Podcast Profit Potential Discovery Call calendar.

This week we are going to talk about a commonly overlooked aspect of your podcast content strategy: Your CTA (call to action)!

Let's do a quick check....Does your podcast intro outro include LOTS of language like the following?

    ➡️ Hit that follow button.

    ➡️ Leave a rating & review.

➡️ Come say HI on IG, LinkedIn, X, Youtube, Pinterest.

➡️ Download 12 different FREE lead magnets.

    ➡️ Let's do a discovery call.

➡️ Sign up for my newsletter.

➡️ Send me a handwritten letter with your questions.

➡️ Check out my sweet MySpace profile.

Let's consider a few things from the perspective of a podcast consumer:

    1. How many podcasts, newsletters, Youtube channels are you consuming content from weekly?

    2. How many CTA's (call to action) are being put in front of you daily.

The simple answer is that we are all bombarded with CTA's daily and overwhelm tends to lead to non-action.

So let's not add to the CTA noise and do something different with your show!

Here are five ways that we can all be more strategic with our podcast CTA:

🎯 1) Use just ONE call to action per episode.

My clients really hate me (at first) when I make them try this strategy. They've worked so hard on their catchy jingle in their intro and they think it covers ALL the promo bases!

Here's the experiment that I have them try:

✅ Decide which ONE call to action is the most impactful for you and your business right now.

Another way to think about this is that if you could only get your audience to do ONE thing what would be the most beneficial to you and your business?

Usually this ends up being a CTA for a discovery call, newsletter opt in, or an offer.

✅ Make this high impact CTA the ONLY CTA you use for the next 4-12 episodes.

    This is the scary part...LOL!

Simplicity and repetition WORK Pod Pals!

🎯 2) Try aligning the single CTA with the content of your episode.

If I have a podcast episode titled "10 Tips to help you get 10,000 podcast downloads" I know that I'm attracting listeners that want to grow their podcast.

I can make my single CTA a quick promo for my Podcast Growth Bootcamp offer.

🎯 3) Don't use the same canned (pre recorded) promo on every episode.

Podcast intros and outros are the most skippable part of every podcast....so how do we keep our listeners from skipping through to get to the good stuff?

    Change....It.....Up!

I like to pre-record a few intro/outro options that I can use, but most of the time I'm just adding my CTA into the content at the beginning/end of the episode.

🎯 4) Align your CTA with an audio testimonial clip from a client.

If I start off my episode with a fresh testimonial from a group coaching client, I can follow up with a CTA where I'm talking about how you can get more info on my group coaching program.

This is a great strategy for parlaying the momentum of your listener hearing an inspiring testimonial into a CTA that explains.. "Here's how you can do it too!".

🎯 5) Use a casual CTA mid episode.

We are all used to planting a CTA into our intro/outro but one of the most effective places is right in the middle of the episode.

Pro Tip: I suggest avoiding a pre-recorded mid roll ad and instead just do a casual CTA wherever it seems to fit into the topic you are discussing.

Let's say that I've added a CTA for my Listener To Client Conversion coaching program into the intro/outro of an episode.

During the episode I will look for an opportunity to tell a quick story of someone that has used this program to get great results.

Then I will say something like "and just a quick reminder...I will put the link to the program in the episode notes in case you have a goal of turning your content into clients."

    OK..let's talk about action steps:

✔️ What is the ONE CTA that you want to focus on?

✔️ Commit to only mentioning that single CTA for at least the next FOUR episodes of your show.

✔️ When it makes sense try to layer in a few of these strategies that you learned about today.

Final thought: I know the question that you have at this point because ALL of my clients ask me: "What about the show notes for the episode?"

My personal strategy is to only verbally mention ONE CTA during the podcast episode, but I usually include more than one link in the show notes (usually for my Discovery Call AND my Newsletter Opt-In).

🤩 Client Testimonial of the week: My client Kristen Edwards has a show called Ambitious Time Management: Strategies for Working Moms.

"I joined the group coaching program because I needed help with creating offers that align with my podcast mission without overthinking each and every step. My favorite part of the program is our group training calls because the entire community gives me new ideas!"
