⭐️ This week we are on week #2 of a two week series on email list building and marketing.
Of all of the online entrepreneurship skills that I've had to learn, email marketing (specifically email funnel building) has been the most difficult for me to learn how to do.
In the early days (2015-2018) I would spend HOURS concocting 20+ emails to create a funnel...and by the end of the process I always had the thought "I'm just guessing at how to do this!!!!"...I really had no freakin' idea what I was doing!
But eventually, like all the other parts of my online business, if you give me 3-5 years to figure something out I will start making some progress...LOL!!
So today I'm going to save you 3-5 years of email funnel building suffering by providing four simple and effective funnel building tips:
✅ Tip #1: Set ONE target for what you want to funnel into. If this is your first funnel building rodeo I would suggest NOT funneling into a paid offer and instead focusing on a CTA of a discovery call.
Honestly your first few attempts at email marketing like this probably won't be super awesome....which makes it harder to be able to make a direct sale. So using a CTA for a discovery call will be a much easier conversion because it is another free connection point.
Most of us are much better at creating sales via a live connection vs an email marketing campaign.
✅ Tip #2: Decide on how many emails need to be in the funnel. I would suggest starting out at 10-15 emails total with a cadence of releasing an email every 2-3 days.
✅ Tip #3: Use your discovery call CTA every 5th email. So if you've got a 10 email funnel that means email 5 and email 10 will be all about why they should sign up for a discovery call with you.
✅ Tip #4: All of the rest of the emails in the funnel should drive to your podcast episodes. THIS...was the "AHA!" moment for me Pod Pals!
Let's say that you are building a 10 email funnel and we know that #5 and #10 will be driving to your discovery call CTA. We have 8 emails to use to connect people to our best podcast episodes related to their topic of interest.
For example with my Podcast Growth Scorecard lead magnet I would grab all of my best download growth podcast episodes and use those 8 emails to drive towards each of them individually.
The general email format would look something like this:
-Talk a little bit about the topic of the featured episode.
-Bridge to the episode CTA with "Now if you are into this topic you are going to LOVE this episode below!"
-Post a single link to the featured episode (with ZERO other CTA's/Links in that email).
The overall goal with this strategy is to bring someone into our world with a high value lead magnet. Then we get them binge listening to our best podcast episodes on that same topic so we can really ramp up expert positioning. Then we drive into a CTA of doing a discovery call so we can connect and talk about working together.
As I type this I can honestly FEEL several light bulbs going on out there for you all!!!!
