Hey Pod Pals!
This newsletter was lovingly curated (without the use of any AI) in real time on Thursday morning at 9:07am CST.
Due to all of the snow we've been getting, this is the first day in a week where BOTH of my children have had school.....and I'm really looking forward to a normal Thursday schedule!
Real quick before we dive into this week's topic.... ⤵️
I love helping my clients set up a simple strategy to turn their CONTENT into CLIENTS.

This week we are going to dive into a common mistake I see podcasters making: We don't continue to leverage our podcast episodes AFTER the week that they go live.
When I first started podcasting in 2015 I would kick out a fresh episode....promote it hard for about a week....and never mention it ever again.......sound familiar?
Here's the mindset shift I'm going to ask you to make today:
➡️ Every single episode of your podcast is a marketing ASSET.
This week I released episode 606 of my show Podcasting Business School....this means I have 606 marketing ASSETS that I need to continue to use!
Here are SIX of my favorite strategies for leveraging old podcast episodes...let's kick some ASSETS! 😆
*Before we dive into these strategies...a quick note!
I want to encourage you to include your episode number within the title of each episode in order for these strategies to work optimally.
Here's an example with my episode title for this week:
❌ What I'm selling INSTEAD of online courses.
✅ 606: What I'm selling INSTEAD of online courses.
✅ What I'm selling INSTEAD of online courses. (EP 606)
Numbering your episodes within the title does NOT negatively impact SEO and it will help you optimize the strategies below.
Strategy #1: Reference a specific episode when you are a guest on someone else's podcast.
When I'm a guest on a podcast I will know going in which topics are likely to come up and I will have a few podcast episodes that I might reference as a next step for the listeners.
It typically looks something like this:
"Based off of our conversation about podcast growth here today I think a great next step for your audience would be to check out episode 560 of Podcasting Business School where I dive deep into how to leverage SEO and Organic Discovery to double your downloads."
My goal is to refer the audience to at least ONE of my specific podcast episodes every time I'm a guest.
This strategy works MUCH better than just referring them to listen to the show in general.
Strategy #2: Give specific episode references when you give a presentation on a live/virtual stage.
When I'm on stage at Podfest I might give a presentation titled 7 Strategies to Double Your Podcast Downloads.
Within this presentation I will have a slide that touches on each strategy AND a specific podcast episode number to check out to dive deeper into this strategy.
I usually warn the audience at the beginning to have their favorite podcast player app pulled up on their phone. I will then remind them to download the specific episodes with each slide.
Now my audience is listening to SEVEN of my episodes on their trip home.😎
Strategy #3: Use old podcast episodes within your email funnels.
Personally, I stopped using any email funnels in 2025, but I know many of you still do.
Let's say you have a 10 email funnel. Look at each one and see if there is an episode of your show that goes a little deeper into the concept discussed and hyperlink it!
This is a great way to speed up the process of building expert positioning so that you can turn your content into CLIENTS.
Strategy #4: Ask your audience for "fan favorite episode" audio clips.
I haven't used this strategy in a while but I'm planning to implement it again this year!
Here is how it works:
✔️ I will send out an email to my list with my Speakpipe link and a request to record a 60 second or less favorite episode recommendation.
✔️ I use this template "Hi this is (YOUR NAME) from (YOUR PODCAST). My favorite episode of Podcasting Business School is (EPISODE XYZ)...because (WHY YOU LIKED THIS EPISODE)."
✔️ I will insert these episode recommendation audio clips at the END of my episodes as the outro.
This creates a scenario where a listener consumes an episode and then hears another listener recommending an episode to check out next.
When you use this strategy you will see a spike in downloads in these older episodes recommended by your listeners!
Strategy #5: Include episode recommendations within your podcast episodes.
This is as simple as saying: If you enjoyed this episode you might also enjoy episode XYZ where I talk about XYZ.
I would suggest linking these episodes in the show notes.
Strategy #6: Reference your episodes when you are commenting on other people's posts on social media.
Right now I'm spending 30-60 minutes each day just commenting on other people's posts on Threads.
Here's one of my favorite ways to do this:
✔️ Reference the person's name in your comment: "Hey Alberto! I'm a full time podcaster and I've dealt with this a lot..."
✔️ Drop some tips: "Here are three quick strategies that have worked for me and my clients......"
✔️ Mention an episode: "In episode XYZ of my show Podcasting Business School I do a full breakdown of this process. Just let me know if you want the direct link."
NOTE: I try to avoid dropping a direct link to the episode without asking for permission first.
I hope that you've got a few ideas brewing based off of these strategies. Which ONE are you going to implement first?
Hit the REPLY button...I'd love to know!

🤩 Client Testimonial of the week: My client Tim Delaney has a show called Business Buying for Financial Independence.
Check out what he has to say about doing 1:1 consulting with me to develop his podcast launch strategy:
"Hiring Adam was the push that I needed to get my podcast launch over the finish line! What would've taken me months, took just weeks. Adam provided all of the resources, tools, and support that I needed to get the podcast off the ground. I've already seen great success in the number of downloads I've had in the first few episodes because of his tips!"
