audience engagement tips podcast content ideas social media marketing Jan 24, 2024
This week we are going to chat about ramping up your audience engagement.
Have you ever felt like you can't tell if anyone is ACTUALLY listening to your show or not? You see the downloads happening but you are left wondering why those people never engage with you via email or on social media.
When you are feeling like this it usually means that you need to set up a new audience engagement game plan.
Here are three important questions that I want you to consider as you strategize to ramp up your audience engagement:
1. When am I giving my community a chance to act like and feel like a community?
You can do this by doing things like livestreaming and free challenges. My favorite way to accomplish this is to host my monthly Pod Pals Zoom Party. This is where I invite my audience members onto the show for a community discussion.
2. Are you initiating audience engagement or are you sitting back and waiting for it to happen on it's own?
I know a lot of us sit back and think "Why aren't my adoring fans emailing me with praise????!!!"...LOL.....you know it's true!
The truth is that we have to take it upon ourselves to go out and stir up some engagement.
One of my favorite ways to do this is on social media. I will send voice messages to my newest followers to welcome them to my world and ask them how I can help them out. This always starts a conversation!
3. Are you using ONE very specific engagement based Call To Action on your podcast episodes?
This is a two pronged problem Pod Pals!
The first issue is that we have too many CTA's period. You can't ask your audience to do 12 things and then sit back and wait for all of them to happen.
The second issue is that podcasters tend to put a really lame CTA out there like "Here's my email....feel free to send me your questions!"
I want you to have ONE call to action and I want it to be intriguing like "Go over to my Instagram Stories and answer today's poll question about......"
Maybe you even incentivize them further by adding a prize like an amazon gift card drawing for one person who answers the poll question.
