business tips podcast content ideas podcast monetization Dec 18, 2025

Hey Pod Pals!
This newsletter was lovingly curated (without the use of any AI) in real time on Thursday morning at 8:47am CST.
I've got the kids off to school as they wrap up their last couple days of school before winter break. It still blows my mind that my son Henry is in high school! He's got his physics final exam today....send smart vibes his way!
Real quick before we dive into this week's topic.... ⤵️
I love helping my clients improve their ability to convert their podcast listeners into paying clients for their programs and services.
If you feel ready for some help with this type of monetization strategy hop on my Podcast Profit Potential Discovery Call calendar.

This week we are going to answer this question: Is your content attracting your ideal fit clients?
One of the coaching skill sets I've been working hard on developing for myself this year is the ability to ask my clients better questions that lead them towards insights that will be helpful to them.
As a coach it is easy to assume that it's always up to us to come up with the genius answers and ideas that solve all of the problems that our clients have....BUT.....sometimes it's even more effective to have the ability to put a great question in front of our clients that helps THEM generate a great idea/solution.
A few weeks ago I had a really productive group coaching session where I felt like I hit a home run with the questions I was asking my clients to think about.
The session topic was focused on how to attract our ideal fit clients and I wanted to use the newsletter today to put these same questions in front of you!
Five questions to think about that will help you attract ideal fit clients with your content:
🎯 Question #1: What does one level of specificity below your current content niche look like for you?
Example: With my show Podcasting Business School my main niche could be described as a podcast about podcasting.
When I make it more specific by niching down one level I get: Online business strategies for podcasters.
Sometimes we are fighting for attention in a larger content niche when we don't really need to. By niching down one level we can be EXACTLY where our ideal fit clients are hanging out.
🎯 Question #2: What are the very SPECIFIC characteristics of your ideal client avatar?...WHO can you help the FASTEST?
When I put this in front of my group coaching clients I could tell it was a bit scary for some of them. I get it....we feel like we could be missing out by getting too specific.
I would encourage you to trust this process and see what comes out on the other side.
Get as SPECIFIC as possible!
Here is an example of my very specific ideal client avatar:
➡️ They have released at least 20+ podcast episodes.
➡️ They have an email list of at least 100+ people.
➡️ They have sold a program or service for at least $500.
These are the people that I am 100% confident that I can help achieve their desired results QUICKLY.
😱 Now before you freak out and think that I'm trying to get you to limit your client pool to this tiny little niche.....we now have TWO opportunities to generate income:
💰 Opportunity #1: Create content and offers that transform your audience INTO your ideal fit client avatar.
💰 Opportunity #2: Create content and offers that help your ideal fit clients go to the next level of their journey.
Do you feel better now? ...LOL!
🎯 Question #3: Are you using your content and your offers to help your audience members develop into your ideal client avatar?
This is going to help us address Opportunity #1 from above.
I fully realize that many of you do not fit my ideal client avatar at this moment....but this doesn't mean I can't/won't help you.
Let's look at my avatar again with some examples of how I can help you achieve each benchmark:
➡️ They have released at least 20+ podcast episodes.
(I put out a TON of free content about launching a podcast and I have a podcast launch offer.)
➡️ They have an email list of at least 100+ people.
(I put out a TON of free content about building your list and I have a newsletter bootcamp offer.)
➡️ They have sold a program or service for at least $500.
(I put out a TON of free content about offer creation and sales strategies and I have an offer to help with listener to client conversion.)
🎯 Question #4: What next level pain points does your ideal client avatar have?
Once someone does meet your ideal fit client criteria it's important to understand where they are trying to go and what roadblocks are in their way.
We need to make sure we have free content and paid offers that can speed up the process!
Here are the typical next level pain points of my ideal fit client avatar:
-Slow podcast audience and email list growth.
-Low client conversion.
-Not consistently earning meaningful income.
-Overwhelmed and frustrated by feeling the need to do "all the things" and underwhelmed by the ROI from their current effort level.
🎯 Question #5: How are you making yourself known as someone that can help your audience SOLVE these pain points?
Think about your podcast, social media, and newsletter based content over the past several weeks. Have you been raising awareness about the problems you solve?
Surprisingly most content creators don't do a great job of this.
*Point of clarification: An AD for your services is not what I'm talking about here.
As you prep for your January content I want to challenge you to infuse some problem solving awareness.
Here are a couple of quick ideas for raising problem solving awareness with your content.
➡️ Podcast Content Example: If you record a solo episode think about the problem/pain point that you are helping your audience solve with this specific episode topic.
At the beginning of the episode simply say something like: "One problem I really love helping my clients solve is (INSERT PROBLEM)..and today we are going to discuss how I do this..."
If you want to go next level with this simple strategy you can follow up with a CTA to a discovery call......you may notice that this is exactly what I've been doing lately.
It might look like this: "One problem I really love helping my clients solve is (INSERT PROBLEM)..and today we are going to discuss how I do this. If you feel like you might be ready to go to the next level feel free to hit my Discovery Call link in the show notes and we can discuss how I can help you speed up the process by working together."
➡️ Newsletter Content Example: Honestly just take a peek at how I opened this newsletter above.
I knew the core problem we were going to cover today would be client acquisition. So I dropped this into my intro above:
