Hey Pod Pals!
This newsletter was lovingly curated (without the use of any AI) in real time on Thursday morning at 7:50am CST.
My son Henry has been dropped off for football weights and I'm sitting in Starbucks with my Grande Black Cold Brew Coffee in a glass (I've perfected my order lingo!!!!).
I'm excited to dive into this newsletter because I'm trying something NEW.....
This week's newsletter is being sponsored by a new idea that I'm exploring...and I'd love to get your quick input! ⤵️
So, I'm considering adding a premium (paid) content tier to my business platform.
Ideally I'd like this to be a new "flavor" of content based off of me auditing your shows and businesses (like what I'm trying out in today's newsletter).
If you could take 30 seconds and fill out this quick Google Form it would really help me as I develop my idea.
If I decide to do this....I want to create premium content that you actually want!

This week I am going to do a Podcast Audit! I'm breaking down my advice for one of my 4,000+ newsletter subscribers!
First things first...hitting 4,000+ on this newsletter list is a BIG DEAL to me. This was my goal for 2025 and we already hit it.......thanks to all of you that support me and read my content each week!
So I've got this big idea about doing a premium content tier and I asked one of my newest readers if I could explore my new content idea by doing a podcast audit breakdown of her show with this newsletter.
A BIG shout out to my Pod Pal Karen Davies for allowing me to audit her show!
So let's do this!
Here is the link to Karen's show so that you can see what I'm seeing as I make some recommendations.
I prefer to NOT include a bunch of images within my newsletter because that seems to hurt email deliverability numbers.
SO....I suggest that you pull up her show and follow along with my notes!
First up let's talk about the name of her show.
🎯 Here's what I like about her show name (Online Business Uncovered: Simple Strategies for Entrepreneurs)
1. Karen's show name follows my Perfect Podcast Naming Formula.
When I read the name I know what the show is about, who the show is for, and I see at least two keywords (Online Business and Entrepreneurs).
2. The FIRST word in her show name is a highly searched keyword. (Online Business)
💡 Here is one idea for improvement:
I'm a little worried that her show will still get lumped into the big bucket of "Entrepreneurship".
If her ideal client is a specific type of entrepreneur I would suggest calling to them with the name.
For example, if she really wants to target NEW entrepreneurs or people transitioning into entrepreneurship we could adjust the title to:
👉 Online Business Uncovered: Simple Strategies for New Entrepreneurs.
If she wanted to target seasoned entrepreneurs we could go with something like:
👉 Online Business Uncovered: Simple Strategies for 6-figure Entrepreneurs.
If her ideal clients are females we could go with:
👉 Online Business Uncovered: Simple Strategies for Female Entrepreneurs.
Last thought on the name: I know some of you are thinking "Damn...that's one heck of a long podcast name!"
I agree that it is a little lengthy but this is just the listed name in her show host. Verbally, on the show, she can just say "Online Business Uncovered".
Next let's dive into her podcast logo!
🎯 Here's what I like about her podcast logo:
1. The font is HUGE and really easy to read. When I'm on my phone I had ZERO problem reading this font and understanding what I'm looking at.
2. I like that the word "business" is highlighted in a different color.
3. The word "uncovered" stands out with the pink shadow box behind it.
💡 Here is one idea for improvement:
Again...we need to make sure this show stands out amongst all of the other entrepreneurship/business shows by announcing WHO it is for.
I would suggest adding the title extension to the art (including the new WHO it is for suggestion from above).
👉 I'd like to see a shadowbox at the bottom with readable font that says "Simple Strategies for (New/Female/etc) Entrepreneurs".
Now the issue we may run into is the art gets a little "wordy" looking.
She may want to slightly decrease the size of the word "unfiltered" to create more space between that and the title extension at the bottom.
She can also decrease the size of the microphone on the left side of the image.
Now let's address the podcast host description. This is our 2nd most powerful SEO weapon!
🎯 Here is what I like about her host description:
1. LOTS of keywords are in there. Really nice job Karen! I like using the initial paragraph to get all of the important highly searchable words in there.
2. She included a second section with what I call my "Google Questions" strategy.....I can see she's been consuming my content....LOL!
This strategy is based around adding about 10 questions that are pulled straight from Google.
I usually have my clients just Google one question that they know their audience is probably asking, and then Google will make suggestions of other relevant questions.
We then take those questions and add them to the bottom of the host description.
The goal of this strategy is to make your show more likely to pull up in a Google search for those specific questions.
💡 Here is one idea for improvement:
The Google question section at the bottom is showing up as one big clump of text in the podcast player apps. This usually happens because we copy/paste the text.
It is super annoying when this happens but the quick fix is to go in and manually type the questions in the host description and space each one out on a single line.
Finally let's talk about the individual podcast episodes.
🎯 Here is what I'm liking:
1. WEEKLY CONTENT! Great job with consistency each week!
2. Karen is numbering her episodes within the title. This makes it SUPER easy to reference episodes and listeners can find them in two seconds flat.
3. She gives important links in the show notes first so they don't get lost in the mix. We don't want to bury those within all the text.
4. Lots of solo episodes for establishing expert positioning. This GREATLY increases her ability to convert listeners into paying clients.
💡 Here are a few ideas for improvement:
1. Make sure there is at least ONE keyword in every podcast episode title.
It's easy to go back and update individual episode titles and make sure keywords are in there.
For example her latest episode is:
"The 4 systems that give me my time back"
Let's get a keyword in there...for example:
👉 "The 4 (time management/online business/artificial intelligence) systems that give me my time back."
2. I wouldn't include the word "episode" at the start of each episode title.
I would just delete that out of every episode and leave three digits.
👉 Example: "128: The 4 systems that give me my time back!"
3. Make sure all links in the show notes are "naked"....LOL.
This basically means that she shouldn't use any hyperlinks in the show notes because those won't show up across all podcast player apps.
OK Pod Pals....it's time to let me know what you think about this type of content!
I'd like to do audits like this for podcasts AND online business (offers, newsletters, pricing, etc).
If you could take 30 seconds and provide a little feedback to help me validate this idea it would be much appreciated!
