business tips podcast growth podcast monetization Sep 27, 2023
⭐️ This week we are going to talk about some specific goals that I think every podcaster should shoot for with downloads and monetization.
We all want to grow our audience and make more money as we grow so let's set some solid targets to shoot for....and also have some tangible action steps that will help us get there.
I think every podcaster should set some kind of a download growth achievement goal.
Here are a few examples that you can choose from:
*Monthly total downloads.
*Total overall downloads.
*Episode download numbers at the 30 day mark.
Once you choose your achievement goal (and you don't have to choose just one) then we want to set a few trackable habit based goals that will propel us towards this mark like:
*Release a new episode each week.
*Spend at least $200 on ads to grow your audience.
*Release five marketing assets for each episode.
I also think it is important for podcasters to set some kind of a monetization achievement goal.
Here are a few ideas:
*Replace my income from my 9-5 job.
*Bring in enough income to cover my podcasting expenses.
*Bring in enough income to pay my mortgage.
*Earn $5,000 per month.
*Replace half of my 9-5 income with a recurring revenue stream.
Here are a few ideas for trackable habit goals for monetization:
*Make sure that 2/3 of your content has you positioned as the expert (solo and coaching episodes).
*Do 10 new discovery calls per week/month.
*Align your content calendar with your offer/promotion calendar every 90 days.
*Use a discovery call CTA at the beginning and end of your episodes for eight consecutive weeks.
Now that I have you brainstorming on podcasting goals you should consider diving into episode 409 where I dish out more ideas on how podcasters can effectively set and achieve their goals.
🎙 PBS episode 409: A goal setting guide for podcasters.
Topics discussed👇
*The goal setting mistake that causes 80% of podcasters to quit.
*The difference between an achievement goal and a habit goal.
*What I learned from Michael Hyatt that changed the way that I set goals for my business.
*The exact process that I use so that my habit goals feed into my achievement goals.
