business tips Jun 28, 2023
The last couple of weeks I've been talking about processes that I use that allow me to get a LOT accomplished during my three day work week and we are going to continue this discussion today where we look at processes for three levels of my business: Content Mapping/Planning, Weekly Planning, and Quarterly Reviews.
β My Content Mapping/Planning Process. I'm a big believer in having your content strategy mapped out at least two months in advance. This allows us to align our content with important CTA's and our paid offer launches.
I use an Evernote file to map out my content for 60-90 days at a time. I keep an Episode Idea Bank list at the bottom of this note and I pluck the ripe content ideas and insert them into the active schedule once it makes sense to do so.
The other thing I keep a close eye on with my content is my Podcast Audit recording schedule. Since I release one of those per week I have to make sure I have enough episodes banked for a couple of months in case I get some cancellations.
β My Weekly Business Plan. Thursdays are the last day of my three day work week so at the end of the day I will sit down and map out my business game plan for the following week. I have found that I do better on Tuesdays (my first day of my work week) if I have a plan already in place and I can hit the ground running.
The first thing I do with my weekly plan is to create my top three action list for the week. These are the three things the MUST be accomplished for me to consider this a productive/successful week. These usually have something to do with my top business project.
So right now my top business project is getting my new podcast launched and my top three list includes 1. Record episodes, 2. Create the companion workbook, and 3. Create the email series for the workbook.
Once my weekly top three list is created I will go to each day of the week and create a top three action step list for each day individually. I do this for both my work and non work days. A non work day action step list may look like 1. Workout and sauna, 2. Grocery shop, 3. Prep for basketball practice.
β My Quarterly Business Review. At the end of each quarter I do a pretty thorough business review to see what has been working, what isn't working, and which projects need more time to develop.
I feel like it is really important to do these quarterly reviews so that we can make some business decisions that allow us to keep growing efficiently with the action steps and projects that are actually producing results.
I have set up a system where I analyze EIGHT core areas of my podcast and my business and I recorded an entire podcast episode where I break these all down for you!
