podcast content ideas Jul 09, 2026

Hey Pod Pals!
This newsletter was lovingly curated (without the use of any AI) in real time on Thursday morning at 9:07am CST.
The mid summer allergy season is upon us here in Missouri. I apologize in advance for sounding like my podcast is being hosted by Batman! 🦇
I've already used my Neti-Pot and my Allegra is kicking in...let's do this!
📈 Today we are going to talk about the benefits releasing weekly episodes during the summer months.
A podcasting hill that I will die on is that podcasters should avoid taking "breaks" from releasing their content during the summer months.
Now...before you get out your pitchforks and start using the word BURNOUT!!!!!!....
I'm very PRO taking breaks from RECORDING content.
The problem that most podcasters have is that they are recording and releasing content in the same week.......and THAT can lead to burnout for sure.
So...in today's newsletter I'm going to give you a bunch of tips about how you can improve your content strategy so that you can release weekly content (even during the summer) without burning out.
But first I want to give you THREE huge benefits of releasing a podcast episode every single week:
🏆 1. Your content gets infused into the weekly routine of your ideal fit listeners.
The average podcast listener listens to 3 different shows per week.
Once you make someone's top 3....you don't want to give up your spot by not releasing fresh content for a few weeks/months.
🏆 2. If you have a goal of leveraging your show to turn your content into CLIENTS....each episode is an opportunity to develop more expert positioning.
The more solo and coaching episodes you release the faster you will start getting clients.
I challenge my coaching clients to get at least 25 coaching episodes into their RSS feed as fast as possible to establish expert positioning.
🏆 3. You will be a much better podcaster at episode 100 than you were at episode 8....it's science! 🤓
Spoiler Alert: 99.9% of my podcast growth came AFTER episode 100.......you can get there in 100 weeks (or less).....or a lot longer....your choice!
Ok...now for some tips and strategies to help you become more efficient with your podcast content creation strategy:
🎯 Tip #1: Commit to a set content creation schedule.
I don't care what it is...just commit to SOMETHING.
If your content creation schedule involves the phrase "whenever I can get to it"....you are in trouble!
When I first started I blocked off 30-45 minutes every Tuesday afternoon and I expanded from there.
🎯 Tip #2: Do more solo and coaching episodes.
These usually take 30 minutes or less to record. You can record two of these in the time it takes to record one 60 minute interview.
Solo episodes are especially easy to batch record in advance!
🎯 Tip #3: Use my 1:1 Podcast Editing Ratio
If it takes me 37 minutes to record an episode I only give myself 37 minutes to edit it.
Here's my exact process:
-I record the episode in Descript.
-I immediately edit it, add in a client testimonial audio clip, fix any big mistakes.
*I don't re-listen to the entire episode. I make notes as I record if something gets really messed up so I can quickly edit it.
🎯 Tip #4: Focus on an audio only show until you can get to the point where you can release a weekly episode....then think about adding video.
Video content is a much heavier editing lift compared to audio.
If you aren't releasing on a weekly cadence yet, start with audio and get that content routine established first. Then add video (if it makes sense).
🎯 Tip #5: Try to keep a 2-3 week content buffer.
If you can buckle down and batch record, it can set you FREE!
I always keep a 2-3 week content buffer, which means that my episodes are loaded up in advance for that time period.
This allows me to take breaks as needed.
This strategy has served me well for the past 11 years of weekly content!
📌 Last thing for today:
Last week I tried a new experiment with my podcast SEO strategy and it resulted in my show getting 3,386 downloads in a single DAY.
This inspired me to create a 3 day free challenge inside of my new Skool community where I'm going to break down exactly what I did.
🗓️ The free challenge dates are July 28th-30th.
I will post a daily video with the strategy of the day and community members can watch it, implement the strategy, and ask questions.
It will be open to ALL tiers (free and paid) within my Skool community.
I'd love to have you join for free!
Talk to you next week!
Your Pod Pal,
Adam
