Three big mistakes I made early on with building my online business.
⭐️ This week we are going to talk about building our online businesses.
When I started my podcasting journey one of the big factors that had me motivated was the potential to build an online business that I could leverage to increase my income and decrease the amount of work time I had to put in to get there.
I made a LOT of mistakes as I was getting started and today I wanted to highlight three of the biggest ones that I wish I would have avoided.
Mistake #1: I started trying to create and sell offers too early. I created my first online course within the first two months of having my podcast and not surprisingly....nobody bought it! I wish I would have stayed patient and took more time to learn about my audience and what their actual pain points were before spending time creating and selling offers.
Mistake #2: The early offers that I created were not specific enough. I was trying to create online courses and challenges that solved EVERY problem that my listeners had. In my mind it made since to have a one stop shop solution but now I know that we want to attack one core pain point per offer to best help our listeners along in their journey.
Mistake #3: I didn't focus enough on building up my expert positioning with my brand. This is typical for a lot of newbie online business owners and podcasters. I did a TON of interviews on my show and I didn't start using techniques like solo episodes, coaching episodes, and testimonials until much later on.
